Getting your fire pit ready for the season.

The warm weather is here and its time to get your fire pit ready for another season of siiting around the fire. But before you start your first fire you need to clean up the area and check your firepit . Here are some tips to have a safe fire .

Lets start with a metal fire pit

Clean out the old ashes- By cleaning out the old ashes you will have a better fire it will burn better and last longer.

Check for loose bolts and screws - If your fire pit has legs on it check to see if the screws and bolts are tight. The last thing you want is it to tip over while the fire is going . If it has a screen check that the handle is tight on it as well.

Make sure it is level - If it is on legs make sure it is level again you don't want it to tip over

Make sure it is away from any structure you don't want hot ampers to go on any roof like your house, shed or deck .

Look for any damage - Things can shift during the winter. Be sure to take a good look around the sides, top, and bottom of your fire pit for possible damage that may have occurred in the colder months. Some red flags to look out for: dents, holes, rust, or broken parts.

If the bottom is rusted out don't use it get another one.

Gas fire pit -

Same as above check for loose screws, Make sure it is level and check for any rust .

Check your gas lines make sure there is no cracks

Make sure the control knobs work

Clean the stones and burners

Stone fire pit on the ground -

Clear a 10-foot-diameter area around the site. Remove any grass, twigs, leaves and firewood.

Dig a pit in the dirt, about a foot deep.

Circle the pit with rocks. or you could use stone landscaping edging

Your campfire pit is built and ready for building a campfire

Make sure you have a garden hose ready in case the fire starts outside the ring .Also have a metal rake and shovel .

Hope these tips help and have fun .
